How was the pack made?

I painstakingly scanned hundreds of dollars worth of real glass samples some of which I salvaged myself (this was no easy feat!). These were cleaned up and converted into seamless, repeat, texture patterns. They were then combined with adjustable lighting effects and saved as one-click styles which enable the user to transform shapes and type instantly and easily. I also created a variety of leading brushes so, you can add authentic looking outlines to your designs.

I've never bought anything like this before, and although I've been using Affinity for a while I feel like I don't understand the program very well, so I was afraid I'd have trouble figuring out how to actually use this kit. But I love the stained glass look so much I decided to give it a try, and I'm so happy I did. The instructions are clear enough for even beginners to follow, and once you have an idea what to do, it's easy to make many beautiful designs. I also appreciate the easily located and easily understood information about licenses, since I wanted to use the kit in designing fabrics to sell on Spoonflower.

Another reviewer asked about changing the leading color; it is possible (I've figured it out). The real trick to working with this stained glass kit is to follow the instructions regarding setting up different shapes and layers, and then to make sure you have the correct objects (not layers) selected, and the correct tools, to achieve the effect you want.

The only information I wanted when contemplating the purchase that wasn't totally clear to me was whether you can change the glass colors. The answer is yes, sort of. That is, the styles do come in specific colors, but there are a lot of choices so you can probably find something close to what you want. Then, if you play around with adjustments, it is possible to alter the colors. I need to teach myself more about this. You can also, of course, color any shapes you like with the usual color fill tools rather than using the included glass styles, and thanks to the leading style (if you've applied it), it still looks like stained glass thanks to the shading etc.

I was so pleased with the stained glass kit that I bought several more of Artifex Forge's kits. They all come with clear instructions and reference images, which is a big help. I'm really happy with this kit, and with this creator. Thanks!

Stained Glass Creator – Affinity Designer

I have only created one piece with this set yet, but so far, I've had a lot of fun with it. It is easy to use, flexible, and I'm very proud of the one piece I've made with it so far (which took me about 2h, but that's because I played around with everything the instructions mentioned (textures, colors, orientation). I think the time-consuming part of creating a stained glass design is creating the polygons. With this set, the rest of the work (coloring) is super quick and gives realistic and beautiful results!

This is the first thing i've bought from here - it took me about an hour of fiddling around to make something I was happy with. I had never used Affinity Designer before, so was learning that as I went too - i'd imagine if you were proficient with the software you'd make leadlight-esque stuff pretty efficiently. L

I was so excited to see the Stained-Glass Creator for Affinity. I sometimes worry that I'll have trouble using a tool since I consider myself only a moderately skilled Affinity user but literally within 30 minutes of downloading the product and following the super clear and easy tutorial/instructions included I was already creating a design. The amount of work that must have gone into creating the program far exceeds the price. I could not recommend this more highly! Thank you!
